At NAHB’s Urging, White House Holds Supply Chain Summit

NAHB’s tireless efforts to encourage the White House to convene a home building materials supply chain summit have borne fruit. NAHB, along with a diverse group of stakeholders, participated in a virtual discussion July 16 hosted by the White House regarding challenges across the home building supply chain, the effects on housing, and possible solutions.

 

NAHB Publishes 2021 IECC Residential Code Adoption Kit

NAHB has published a code adoption kit for the 2021 International Energy Conservation Code (IECC). The kit is designed to help local jurisdictions make informed decisions as they consider adoption of the new 2021 IECC residential model energy code, which contains many significant and detrimental changes after a fraught development process.

 

Congress Needs to Advance Policies that Boost Production

NAHB CEO Jerry Howard is calling on lawmakers to enact policies that will help home builders expand the housing supply, reduce the housing deficit and improve housing affordability and opportunity for all Americans. In a July 14 hearing before the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Oversight, Howard encouraged lawmakers to fix the building materials supply chain, improve the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC), and reformulate current homeownership tax incentives.

 

HBAs Offer Best Practices for Membership Drives

More than 150 HBAs participated in the spring membership drive, which officially wrapped up June 30. NAHB asked leaders of the most successful campaigns for best practices in recruitment and retention. How You Can Help Solve the Workforce Shortage…

NAHB Associates invite you to join Chairman Chuck Fowke on Tuesday, July 13, at 2 p.m. ET, for a shop talk discussion on successful initiatives to address the industry’s workforce shortage.

Problem-solvers at local home builders associations have joined forces with NAHB and the Home Builders Institute (HBI) to tackle this issue. Associate Members Committee Second Vice Chair Kimberly Mackey will moderate the discussion, and HBI President and CEO Ed Brady will outline HBI’s programs. They will be joined by an expert panel who will answer questions about workforce development programs in their communities.

The panel includes:

The Minnesota Plumbing Board is submitting the following Notice of Submission of Rules Proposed for Adoption Without a Public Hearing to the Office of Administrative Hearings (OAH) on June 25, 2021. You have until July 2, 2021, to submit any comments to OAH. The Notice (linked below) provides details about the proposed permanent amendments to the Minnesota Plumbing Code, Minnesota Rules Chapter 4714, the exempt rule basis, and how to submit your comment to OAH.

Minnesota Plumbing Board NOTICE OF SUBMISSION OF RULES PROPOSED FOR ADOPTION WITHOUT A PUBLIC HEARING TO THE OFFICE OF ADMINISTRATIVE HEARINGS Proposed Permanent Amendments to Rules Governing the Minnesota Plumbing Code, Minnesota Rules, chapter 4714TO: ALL INTERESTED PERSONS In accordance with Minnesota Statutes, section 14.388, subdivision 2, this Notice is being sent to all persons who have registered their name with the agency under Minnesota Statutes, section14.14, subdivision 1a. This notice is also posted on the website of the Minnesota Plumbing Board (“Board”). PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the above-cited rules proposed for adoption will be submitted to the Office of Administrative Hearings on June 25, 2021.
